새 지역, 새 장르로 전략 다각화
지역 미술시장의 전망은 어떠한가. 우선 지역에서 자생적으로 개최되는 아트페어가 늘어나고 있다. 부산에서는 2007년부터 자체적으로 아트페어를 개최하고 있다. 부산국제아트페어는 다른 아트페어에 비해 판매 수수료를 20% 밖에 받지 않기 때문에, 상대적으로 작품을 저렴하게 구입할 수 있는 이점이 있다.
또한 같은 해에 대구에서 창설된 <아트대구>는 오는 6월 2일부터 5일간 대구 엑스코에서 네 번째 행사를 연다. 이번 아트페어에는 대구 경북 지역 20곳, 서울 지역 20곳, 기타 지역 10곳의 화랑, 해외 화랑 20곳이 참가한다. 올해는 한국 전위미술을 이끌어 온 이건용 특별전과 국내 레지던스 스튜디오 입주 작가들을 선별해 소개하는 '레지던스 아트 프로젝트'가 열린다. 그 밖에 해외 젊은 작가들의 그룹전과 미국 조각가 브래드 하우, 스페인 작가 에바 아르미센의 특별전도 마련된다. 또한 컬렉터들의 소장품을 현장에서 위탁 판매하는 '체인징 컬렉션' 이라는 부대행사가 주목을 끈다.

Diversifying Strategies with New Regions and New Genres
What is the outlook for the regional art market? First, there has been an increase in art fairs organically emerging in various regions. Since 2007, Busan has been hosting its own art fair. The Busan International Art Fair charges only a 20% commission, much lower than other fairs, offering the advantage of purchasing artworks at a relatively lower price.
Likewise, Art Daegu, which was founded in the same year, will hold its fourth event at Daegu EXCO from June 2 to 5. This year’s art fair will feature participation from 20 galleries from the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, 20 from Seoul, 10 from other regions, and 20 from overseas. Highlights of this year's event include a special exhibition of avant-garde Korean artist Lee Kun-Yong, as well as the Residence Art Project, which introduces selected artists from domestic residency studios. There will also be a group exhibition featuring young international artists, special exhibitions by American sculptor Brad Howe and Spanish artist Eva Armisen, and a notable side event, Changing Collection, where collectors can consign and sell their artworks on-site.
