윤재우의 작품세계에서 가장 두드러지는 특징은 밝고 강렬한 색채와 단순하면서도 명쾌한 조형성이다. 인물·풍경·꽃·과일 등의 친숙한 대상을 소재로 삼으면서 형태를 간결하게 정리하고, 강한 색채를 통해 대상의 생명감과 정서를 표현했다.
위 작품 〈입추의 계절〉은 가을로 접어드는 계절의 풍요를 ‘환희의 색’으로 노래한 색채화가의 정서가 돋보이는 대표적인 작품이다.

Yoon Jae-woo (1917–2005) was a figurative painter who holds an important place in the development of modern and contemporary Korean Western-style painting. He graduated from the Department of Western Painting at Osaka School of Art in Japan in 1944. After returning to Korea, he worked primarily in Mokpo and Gwangju, while continuing his artistic career for many years in Seoul as both an educator and painter. In particular, he devoted himself to nurturing younger generations of artists as a professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Chosun University.
One of the most distinctive characteristics of Yoon’s work is his use of bright, intense colors combined with simple yet clear forms. Taking familiar subjects such as figures, landscapes, flowers, and fruit, he simplified their forms and used vivid colors to express their vitality and emotional qualities.
The work above, The Season of Autumn, is a representative painting that vividly reveals Yoon’s sensibility as a colorist, celebrating the abundance of the approaching autumn through what might be called “colors of joy.” Striking contrasts of brilliant gold, red, green, and blue convey the vitality of nature and the richness of the season.
